PDA is honored to welcome Martina Kartman, who was awarded a Soros Justice Fellowship to develop restorative justice alternatives to incarceration. Martina will be partnering with community leaders in Seattle-King County pushing in this direction. While LEAD has shown success as an alternative to jail and prosecution for people whose law violations are mostly "public order" offenses, restorative justice holds promise as a non-punitive response to crimes of violence where the interests of victims must be taken into account. We are excited Martina will bring this work to PDA!
